Organized by the Giresun Provincial Directorate of National Education, in collaboration with Giresun Municipality, Giresun University, and Bahçeşehir University, and themed "Green Technology: Scientific Solutions for a Sustainable Future," the TÜBİTAK 4007 Science Festival opened on November 28, 2024, at the Giresun Municipality Culture and Fair Center. This three-day event brought together numerous workshops and hands-on activities combining environment and science. Dr. Lecturer Firdevs İclal KARATAŞ AYDIN, a faculty member in the Department of Mathematics and Science Education at Giresun University's Faculty of Education, conducted an original STEM workshop titled "I'm Building a Hospital," raising awareness about scientific thinking, sustainability, and engineering design. This workshop offered participants the opportunity to develop solutions for the construction of healthcare facilities requiring rapid response in disaster situations, considering multi-dimensional variables such as environmental conditions, material selection, and energy efficiency. In the workshop, students... They experienced an interdisciplinary learning process by going through processes such as problem situation analysis, stages of the engineering design cycle, mathematical modeling, and environmental impact assessment. The event supported students' creative problem-solving skills while also enabling them to learn about sustainable building technologies. In his evaluation at the end of the event, Dr. Lecturer Firdevs İclal Karataş AYDIN ​​emphasized that such scientific festivals play an important role in developing environmental awareness and increasing interest in science among students. He also extended his thanks to Giresun Provincial National Education Director Ertuğrul Tosunoğlu and Project Coordinator Halil Narbay, who works in the R&D unit, for making this valuable organization possible. The "I'm Building a Hospital" STEM workshop, organized within the scope of the TÜBİTAK 4007 Science Festival, attracted great interest by offering participants the opportunity to actively participate in the scientific knowledge production process and to develop innovative solutions based on sustainability.
